As I have been enjoying my 987 Cayman, my wife has become jealous. Naturally, the badge envy occurs or FOMO, whatever you want to call it. She saw the fun I was having with my lovely 987 & decided it was time to move on from her MK3 Audi TT. After some searching & shrewd negotiation I was able to obtain a 2015 981 PDK Cayman, for her.

Now owning both cars may seem odd to some, but as an avid Porsche enthusiast & specifically my love of the Cayman, I can't say I mind one bit! The diversity between the cars immense, one being a PDK while the other is a manual, the body and interior changes, the chassis and steering changes, they really do feel like completely different cars!

The 987 is in my opinion classic, gorgeous, and overall just a work of art. The body lines are timeless and stunning, the car looks like a classic Porsche while maintaining the modern look and feel of a newer car. The steering, my LORD the steering on this car is probably the best thing I have ever experienced. The 981 is far more muted & comfortable. The steering is heavy, but not as engaging. You can't feel every road imperfection like you can in the 987. The intake noise? Far better in the 981, that car is an absolute screamer when you open it up. I look forward to delving deeper into the ownership and comparison of these two cars.

When doing research, there is plenty of information on anything 911 you could want... but, comparisons on the BASE 2.7 Caymans is few and far between, being as both cars share a closing gap in price point, I think it is super important for people to know the differences and figure out which car you should buy. After many miles in the 981, I will report back with my findings... but for now? I am elated to have two of my favorite cars in one roof!
